Hello Everyone,

My name is Lucy and I graduated from Southampton Solent in July with a First Class Honours degree in Graphic Design. After working in an extremely dull call centre over the summer in which my creativity level was zero I was delighted to be given the opportunity of a 3 month internship at Hot Sand Design.

I have been here just over a week now and am really enjoying being here with Sam and Alice. The atmosphere is great and I am being very well educated on music! I was feeling nervous on my first day but Sam made me feel so welcome I forgot what I was nervous about! As this is the first agency I have worked in I have lots of questions and get stuck from time to time and its really reassuring that Sam is really supportive and happy to help. Honestly though you know you have a lovely boss when she brings in cake and buys you Halls soothers and tissues when you have a cold!

Above all else however I am loving being able to get stuck in with the design work (Being able to design everyday definitely doesn’t feel like work!). I designed my very first animated gif the other day which received good feedback from the client so fingers crossed I can start as I mean to go on! Also when Sam gave me the responsibility to take on this years YMCA Annual Review I was delighted about being given such a big task. I am really enjoying the challenge as before working here I had never used quark express and despite only being here a week or so I feel like I have learnt so much already and my skills are really improving.

I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity as its really hard for design graduates out there and I intend to make the most out of it and be as helpful to Hot Sand Design as possible!

Lucy
